Did Lady Gaga rip off the Psychic Twins?

It's no secret that Lady Gaga frequently looks to others for, um, "inspiration".  She's been known to copy pay homage to many artists, both mainstream and indie... but where is the line drawn between being inspired and simply copying?

Lady Gaga tries to pass Metallica concert photo as her own

Gaga bragged about the attendance at the Festival d'été de Québec (Québec City Summer Festival) on her Instagram last night, but instead of posting her own photo... she added a filter to a photo of a Metallica concert from 2011!

Wow! Was she hoping no one would notice? Or hoping that no one would care? 

Don't worry, Gaga. This won't affect you too much. If you can get away with making a music video that's "literally an ad for rape", you can get away with this too!

And no, I don't mean "up".

One of these things is not like the other

For the past few weeks, Lady Gaga has desperately been trying to get press for Cheek to Cheek - the upcoming jazz album that she's recording with Tony Bennett. She's making public appearances with him, constantly tweeting about him, getting a tattoo designed by him, wearing a wedding dress in a performance with him...(stalker, much?)

After being pushed back twice already (from January 1st, 2014, to sometime in March 2014) their duet album is now set for a September release date, just in time for the Grammy deadline of September 30th.

Roger Friedman from Showbiz 411 is quoted as saying: "I wouldn’t be surprised if it wins Album of the Year in February 2015. Big, big stuff this fall for this duo. PS I am told she will be dressed “elegantly” with Bennett on tour, no eggs, no meat dresses. It’s going to be about her Voice."

What about it? Is it suited for jazz?

On July 1st, Gaga made a "surprise" appearance at the Montreal Jazz Festival during Tony Bennett's set, and sang two jazz standards with him. One was "Lush Life" which you can listen to below, and decide for yourself:

 

My favourite part was when she continually tried to talk over him

Gaga reportedly told fans in Chicago, "Cheek To Cheek will be the end of the beginning of my career and artRAVE is a goodbye celebration to my past."

What does she mean by that? Is Gaga giving up on pop for good? Will her new jazz album take her back to the top? Will this be a smart career move, or will it be another flop?

She's baaaack!

Lady Gaga is back on the road today after nearly 3 weeks off, and despite doing all she could to stay in the news...

DWUW clip leak,
numerous attention seeking outfits,
news of a new album,
news of a new opening act for her show,
getting criticized by PETA for using her dog as a prop,
getting a new tattoo on her right arm (didn't she promise her dad to never tattoo her right side? Guess she lies to her family as much as she lies to the rest of the world),
having Perez talk about her all over social media and live interviews

(Did I forget anything?)

...she still can't sell a show out to it's full capacity.

I was able to buy out an entire row of "official" tickets on Ticketmaster

Second hand ticket resellers struggling to sell tickets

As we've seen through most of the artRAVE, second hand ticket resellers are struggling to sell their tickets to her shows, even though some of them have the prices set below cost (ticket prices on Ticketmaster for this show range from $51.70 - $121.25)

The good news for Gaga is that the several hundred tickets the resellers are stuck with are considered officially sold, since they had to be purchased in order to resell for profit. The empty seats may be disheartening for her though.

Oh well.

Better luck next tour, Gaga.

Did Perez Hilton reignite his feud with Lady Gaga?

"Perez Hilton and Lady Gaga infamously fell out in August after the Artpop singer accused the Internet blogger of stalking her.

Remember this?

                                       

"Perez Hilton stay away from me (and) my family. You are sick trying to rent an apartment in my building to stalk me. Leave me alone! I have confirmation from the building he was there," the 28-year-old tweeted at the time.

Having refuted the claims Perez openly spoke about the pair's broken friendship on the Howard Stern Show today.

"She's clearly talented, clearly ambitious, clearly fame hungry and clearly smart, but I feel used. I feel like the whole time she was pretending to be my friend and befriending me so I would write positive things about her."

Perez then admitted he felt "really sad and hurt" and described how he called Gaga to smooth things over.
"I was on the phone crying with her – she thought I'd set her up. I said 'why would you even think that? I'm your friend, I would never f****** set you up. I'm only here to put you in a positive light – you're my friend'.
"I'm cuban, I'm loyal. I don't have many friends – I thought she was a friend and a real one."

The 36-year-old then said after Gaga parted ways with her manager, she become the "meanest person".
"She had this album called The Fame Monster and she kind of became a victim of that herself and became consumed by it and became a monster," he said.

Asked if he wanted to be friends again, he admitted: "I have zero desire to patch it up and I don't think she does either.

"I would maybe one day like to sit in a room and have her look into my eyes and for me to reiterate 'I never was out to get you, I really viewed you as my friend'.

"I was her friend before she was famous and I would've been her friend even if she didn't become famous."
