Lady Gaga snubbed entirely at MTV Video Music Awards

The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards were announced today and pop's answer to Jesus Christ was shafted completely despite the fact that two of her videos were eligible.   "You and I" was overlooked, likely a response to that ridiculous Jo Calderone shark jumping moment at the last Grammy Awards.  An even harsher slap in the face was the face palm given to "Marry The Night", a biographical song and video about Gaga's most tragic moment; when Def Jam released her.  How's that for irony.

Other women in pop being ignored are Madonna, Taylor Swift and Britney Spears.  That's my attempt at being fair although this blog is about Lady Gaga.  Rihanna and Drake lead along with Katy Perry.  Yawn.

So what's going on here?  Stefani exploded onto the music scene, tore it up in record time and now it seems that bursting flame is nothing but a flicker on the verge of being snuffed out.  Yes, yes, others were snubbed too.  I get it.  However Stefani is the only one everyone thought would be the "new Madonna" and we all know Madge's story.  That kind of longevity in the music world today is very rare.  You might blaze for about a few years only to lose momentum and be replaced by the next big thing.

Perhaps the constant bombardment done by Gaga and her haus finally did her in.  Is Gaga's star waning?  Has the peaked been reached a long time ago and it's downhill from here?  Or is this just a dumb music video award show with an agenda?
